Automatically scroll a web page down or up
If you are using a desktop or even a laptop with an external mouse, you just need to use the middle-clicking button of your mouse, and the entire webpage will scroll automatically. But you still have to move your mouse to control the scrolling, and moreover, you cannot control the speed of scrolling. So, it is always better to use some browser extensions or tools to auto-scroll a webpage. 1] Auto-Scroll without using any extension
You can use a code to auto-scroll your web page. You have to inject a JavaScript code into the page console and you are done. Open the webpage you want to scroll down automatically and press F12 to open the Console. Now Copy+Paste the following code and hit Enter. The web page will automatically start scrolling. One click will give you a slow scroll, a double click will give you a medium-speed scroll, and if you click it three times, the page will quickly scroll down to the bottom the page. Although, you can customize the speed levels on your preferences.
3] HandFred bookmarklet
HandFred is not an extension, it’s a bookmarklet, and it is extremely simple and easy to use. All you have to do is to drag the code onto your Bookmark bar and whenever you want to put any webpage on the auto-scroll. Just click on the bookmarklet and you are done. Click it again if you want to speed up the scrolling. Head over to the homepage of HandFred to get the code. The only hitch here is that there is no way to stop scrolling in between. If you want to stop it, you have to use the F5 button or Refresh the page.
4] Auto Scroll Chrome extension
This is again a Chrome extension that adds the auto-scroll option to your browser. Once downloaded and installed, you will get a discreet button on the top right corner of your browser. To use you just need to press CTRL+ Left click of your mouse and drag the mouse a bit in the direction you want to scroll the page. For example, if you want to scroll up to the page automatically, click CTRL+ left click and slightly move your mouse upwards, the tool will start scrolling up the page. 5] Best Auto Scroll Chrome extension
This is yet another Chrome extension which helps you read hand free by auto-scrolling your web page. Download and add this extension and like every other extension, this tool also lands on your browser’s toolbar as a small button. To use this extension, just click on the button and select your preferences. The tool is very simple and needs to technical know-how. 6] Auto Scroll Firefox Addon
This addon is named Auto Scroll itself, and once you download and add it to your Firefox browser, you can easily scroll the webpages automatically. You can further adjust the scroll interval and end detection period. Right-click on the add on button on your browser toolbar, and you can adjust the settings.
7] Fox Scroller Firefox Addon
This Firefox add-on lets you scroll down a webpage automatically with hotkeys. With this tool, you can scroll multiple websites at a time. Add the tool to your browser, and you will see a button on the top right corner of your browser. Click the button to start scrolling and click it again to stop. If you want to scroll the page upwards, right-click on the button and click on ‘Toggle the direction’, then click on the button again and the webpage will start scrolling up.
