The past version of the Snipping Tool
In the past, you’d have to take the screenshot, save the image, then open it in Paint 3D. Today, this is no longer the case. You can easily take a screenshot, then open the image in Paint 3D for editing. We should point out there was a version of the Snipping Tool for Windows 10 at one point that came with the Paint 3D button baked in. It was a lot easier to transfer screenshots to Paint 3D, but for some reason, Microsoft removed that feature. These days, it takes more clicks to get the job done, which is unfortunate.
Why open your screenshots in Paint 3D?
Paint 3D, while not the most impressive image editor out there, is quite capable. If you use it often, then there is no need to waste time by saving the screenshot, only to open it with Paint 3D after. Work smarter and not harder whenever you can.
How to open a Snipping Tool screenshot in Paint 3D
Getting this done is very easy. The information below will help you a great deal, so be sure to read it carefully.
1] Open the Snipping Tool
OK, so the first thing you will want to do here, is to fire up the Snipping Tool. We can do this by pressing the Windows key on your computer, then click on All Apps. Scroll down until you’ve come across Snipping Tool, and be sure to select it.
2] Take a screenshot
After you have fired up the Snipping Tool, it’s now time to take a screenshot of whatever you want. You can use the Prnt Scrn button on your computer, or do it from the app itself.
3] Open the screenshot in Paint 3D
Finally, after taking your screenshot, click the three-dotted button to the top-right corner of the app. From there, click Open With, then select Paint 3D from the list.
